Jews Gate was named for the old cemetery for inhabitants of the Rock of the Jewish faith. A monument to the ancient world stands here, and there are spectacular views of Morocco.

Built in 1732 Princess Caroline's Battery is named after King George II's third daughter. These chambers were further developed in 1905 to service the coastal defence 6-inch gun that was mounted on top of the magazine.The actual Battery still houses the original hoists used to arm the gun, as well as the shells and other artefacts used in those days.Click to close.

Great Siege Tunnels
Begun during the Great Siege of 1779-1783, the tunnels now traverse the whole north face of the Rock. Handmade tunnels were blasted out of solid rock to make way for a gun to be taken to the Notch,about two thirds up the Rock face. At the time this was one of the greatest engineering feats ever attempted. From here you get the best aerial view of Gibraltar's airstrip, famous for the road that traverses it.Click to close.
